Newly diagnosed steps

What to do in the first weeks after a clotting test result — before the first emergency teaches you the hard way.

This week

Photograph the lab report and store the original. Write the diagnosis name exactly as printed.

Call Nepal Hemophilia Society on 01-5172729 and your treatment centre. Register with NHS and ask for the nearest chapter contact.

  • Save centre and NHS numbers in two phones
  • Ask the doctor for a clinic follow-up date in writing
  • Do not buy factor from informal sellers

Before school or work restarts

Get a one-page emergency plan from the centre for teachers or employers. It should describe joint bleeds and head injury rules without unnecessary private detail.

Tell one trusted neighbour or relative the plan if you are often away from the child.

Dental and minor procedures

Schedule a dental check before pain forces an emergency extraction. Any procedure breaking gum or skin needs centre approval first.

Vaccinations may proceed with plan — ask rather than skipping silently or assuming all vaccines are forbidden.

Emotional reality

Grief and anger after diagnosis are normal. Meeting another family through NHS often helps more than reading ten websites.

If you are outside Kathmandu, say your district on the first call so staff connect you locally, not only to capital events.

This page is general information from Nepal Hemophilia Society. It is not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. A bleed, a head injury, or bleeding after an accident needs urgent hospital care. Ask your treatment centre before you change any treatment.
